Four Catholic nuns die in auto crash



Four Catholic nuns have lost their lives in an accident along the Nkarasi/Alok axis of the Ikom/Ogoja highway in Cross River state, while two others who were critically injured in the crash have been rushed to undisclosed hospital.

The auto crash which occurred on Tuesday, February 9 involved a Toyota Sienna car in which the six reverend sisters were in and a truck carrying soft drinks.

The Nation, citing an eyewitness reports that the accident occurred when the truck lost control and veered into the lane of the Sienna causing a head on collision



In another incident, a family of three miraculously escaped death otoday Wednesday, February 10, in Benin when a truck carrying wood crushed their jeep.

The family made up of the father, wife, a 9-month-old baby and a family friend just stepped out of the car when the accident happened.

Likewise great tragedy was slightly avoided at the Ikeja-Allen area of Lagos at about noonday, on February 8, when a fully loaded commercial bus lost its brakes and was forced to swerve off the designated road.

In the course of its unguarded swerve, the bus brushed a brand new Kia car, got onto the express demarcation (median) and continued on its troubled motion down the road until it came to its final place of rest.
