CONTROVERSY OVER THE DEATH OF TWO YOUNG MEN AT THE RESIDENCE OF A REVEREND FATHER IN MARKUDI

Two young men identified as Martins Jande and Gregory Orakaa Mtswenem have been killed at the private residence of Very Rev. Fr. John Terence Ikponko, Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi and Parish Priest of St. Theresa’s Parish, High Level, Makurdi, Benue State.
It was gathered that the heavily armed gunmen had stormed the cleric’s residence and sent the duo to the great beyond.
Reacting to the ugly incident in a statement issued on Saturday, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 Governorship election, Hon Terhemen Tarzoor described the incident as sad and unfortunate.
It was with great shock and disbelief that I received the news of the horrendous and gruesome murder of two able bodied young men, Martins Jande and Gregory Orakaa Mtswenem, who were slain by yet to be identified assassins on the night of Friday, 23rd September 2016 at the private residence of Very Rev. Fr. John Terence Ikponko, Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi and Parish Priest of St. Theresa’s Parish, High Level, Makurdi, Benue State.
The butchering of these promising young men who were taking refuge at a home provided for them by their benefactor, Fr. Ikponko after they had escaped death by the whiskers during the fulani attacks on the Mbagwen community in Guma Local Government sometime in 2012 is not only barbaric but must be condemned in its entirety.
This equally brings to question the success of the Amnesty Programme of the present administration in the state even as threat to lives and properties of citizens and criminal activities have still persisted unabated, the murder of the duo also viewed as a consequence of the failure of the programme.
While criminality needs to be condemned in its totality, it is my desire that governments at all levels must ensure the protection of unarmed member

Leaked memo shows Clinton was provided questions ahead of interview 1809

Hillary Clinton was provided the exact questions she would be asked by daytime talk show host Steve Harvey, according to a report.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that according to a leaked memo it obtained, the program sent the Clinton campaign all questions one week before the interview between Clinton and Harvey on Feb. 17.
ADVERTISEMENT"Steve is known to be a host who goes out of his way to make his guests feel comfortable,” two of Clinton’s aides wrote Clinton one week before the taping. “We coordinated closely with the show’s producers on the script and format of the show.”

The memo was sent by campaign spokeswoman Karen Finney — formerly an MSNBC host — and communications staffer Betsaida Alcantara.

The memo was attached to an email posted on the website DCLeaks.com.

Questions included were about Clinton’s granddaughter, the former secretary of State's pizza preferences — thin crust versus deep dish — and her support for gun control policies.

"Please note that the tone of the show is generally light so even on policy questions, Steve won’t go too deep into details,” the memo read.

The campaign and the Harvey's producers also coordinated on which parts of Clinton’s biography would be introduced and how.

“During this segment Steve will take a trip down memory lane with YOU to talk about the different moments of YOUR life displayed in the photographs below,” the memo stated.

During the interview, Clinton acted surprised when the photos were placed on screen.

“Oh boy. Oh my goodness,” she said when a photo of her at 12 years old was placed on the screen.

One week later, Harvey endorsed Clinton for president.

The Hill has reached out to the Clinton campaign and The Steve Harvey Show for comment.

14 years Nse is discovered 5months pregnant

14 year old Ese Rita Oruru, the Bayelsa born girl child who was abducted by Yunusa Dahiru, alias Yellow but rescued by the Police in Kano, has been discovered to be about 5 months pregnant, very reliable sources have told Vanguard.

Freed Ese Oruru at Police Headquarters, Abuja, yesterday. Consequently, it was gathered that the white Hijab dress she wore on her arrival from Kano on Tuesday, was used to cover the pregnancy even though her physical condition and looks created a suspicion.

Vanguard was told that it was the condition in which Police authorities discovered about Ese that informed the IGP, Solomon Arase’s directive that she should be handed over to the Gender and Child Protection Unit and later, a team from the Medical Department of the Force to carry out a comprehensive medical examination of the girl-child at the Police Medical Facility in Area 1, Garki.

Upon certifying her medical status and emotional state, Vanguard gathered that the Inspector General of Police feeling uncomfortable with the transport arrangement of the mother that they return by road, cancelled the arrangement and directed that both Ese and her mother be flown to Yenegoa by air.

Meanwhile, the IGP has directed the Bayelsa State Police Command to take over investigation in the child violence offense saga because according to sources, the offense was committed in Bayelsa which is the place of residence of the abductor, Yunusa Dahiru.

Consequently, Vanguard was told the Yunusa will be moved to Yenegoa to face interrogation and prosecution for kidnapping and child abuse as well as violence against a girl-child.

Drama as police arrest 'spirit' in Kano

A mild drama ensued when the Kano state commissioner of police, Muhammad Musa Katsina, paraded a ‘spirit’ and ordered him to demonstrate techniques he was using in duping unsuspecting public. In keeping with the instruction of the police boss, the ‘spirit’ spoke in 3 styles in Hausa, a trick he had been using to dupe people before being arrested by the command. Earlier, Katsina had paraded suspected armed robbers who had been terrorizing people in and around the state along with dangerous weapons seized from them. Also paraded were hard drugs and cocaine with street value of about N2 billion confiscated at various times from suspected drug barons in different locations of the state. Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who was personally at the police headquarters to see for himself the giant efforts of his officers, expressed his happiness at how criminal activities could be easily curbed by them. He also stressed government’s determination in partnering with the all security agencies with a view to making the state safer for peaceful co-existence among citizens.
